Maureen Denise McCormick is the daughter and youngest child of Richard McCormick. She was born on August 5, 1956, in Woodland Hills California. Her father taught at school, while her mother was a domestic worker. Michael Dennis Kevin, her two brothers older. McCormick was an accomplished singer and performer from a young age. Her passion was to perform shows using puppets to entertain her friends. At the age six, McCormick was crowned her first prize in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley competition. Pat Domigan from the Jack Wormser Agency then called her and asked whether the actress was interested in a career in show business. Her first major role came in 1964, when she appeared in a television commercial featuring Mattels new Baby Pattaburp doll. She did another commercial in the year 1964 for the Mattels Chatty Cathy toy and soon was chosen to play the main character in the play Wind It up and It Breaks, a play at La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch In 1969 McCormick was chosen from among 1200 children who auditioned to play the eldest of three towheaded daughters on the new TV sitcom The Brady Bunch starring Florence Henderson as well as Robert Reed as newlyweds with a blended family. The show ran for 5 seasons. McCormick revealed the story Heres the Story. Surviving Marcia Brady, and Finding My True Voice (published 2008) that McCormick was close to losing her Virginity to Barry Williams during the five-year period on the program. He was 19 years old. She was 16. It could have been, she says. The timing for our relationship was not the right one.
