Maureen Denise McCormick - the youngest of Richard McCormick's sons - was born at Woodland Hills, California in 1956. Her father worked as an elementary school teacher, while her mother was a stay at home mom. There are three brothers older than her: Michael Dennis and Kevin. McCormick began singing and dancing in her early years and frequently performed show-like puppets in front of the children from her neighborhood. At the age 6years old, she won her first prize in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest. Pat Domigan from the Jack Wormser Agency then called her to ask whether she was looking to pursue a career in showbusiness. McCormick was hired to star in her first big role in 1964 in the tv spot for Mattels new doll, Baby Pattaburp. In the following year, she appeared in the role of Chatty Cathy in a commercial which was later adapted for Wind It up and It's Broken at The La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick, which was chosen out of 1200 auditioning children to play the third of three head-to-head daughters in The Brady Bunch (1969) which starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed. The show ran for five seasons. In her book Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice which was published in 2008 McCormick disclosed that during the fifth season of the show, she nearly lost her virginity due to her onscreen brother and co-star Barry Williams. The time was when she was 16 and he was 19. The incident would have happened, she says. The timing of our romance was not the right one.
